Hello im steadfast in ripping my CD collection to my HD. However on a few occasions itunes has simply stalled on a track when importing to lossless. Ive noticed the CD drive has then begun to make noises. Could this possibly be the error correction? The CD has some very very very very slight marks. Nothing serious to merit an error when playing in a cd player.

It the noise is sort of a blid-THUMP, blid-THUMP, blid-THUMP, then yes, it's the error recovery. In normal play, a CD player would skip over a small error, but with the correction stuff on, iTunes will try multiple times until it's retrieved the same bit pattern enough times to be reasonably sure that it has the right data.

that happened to me once when i was ripping the last track of "goodbye yellow brick road." i just found the cd track in the finder and dragged it into the library, then converted that file to lossless and it worked. i was ripping in lossless instead of mp3 or aac because i needed to make a few copies.
argh, just noticed your 'tar, iMeowbot :eek:
