Every book is better than movie, but movie was fine you are exaggerating.

For people without a vivid imagination, books are dull... I feel sorry for those people. I have had a lot of fun reading many books and nothing beats what I see on the movie screen in my mind. Nothing... (Although, Jurassic Park came damn close...)

I can't believe this story has 50-50 positive negative votes, and I really like to know who those 7 people are who voted negative and under what moronic thinking they did so.

Maybe because they don't like iTunes "HD" and still find $9.99 way too expensive for the mediocre quality Apple is offering...

$9.99 is NOT a bargain if you can get the same movie for the same price in 1080p with 7.1 audio!

The movie selection is why it's 9.99 I'm guessing because those movies won't sell at any higher prices.

Well can you?

Btw 720p is still HD and most people won't tell the difference.

More Bargains

The 99 cents section for rentals has also been greatly expanded... before it housed just 2 or three movies at a time. Now, that has gone up ten fold. The titles still aren't the best, but it may indicate a future trend.

Sure you can. Compare the BD titles from Amazon with the lame iTunes HD catalogue and you won't notice much of a price difference. The obvious reason for the iTunes price drop were the competitive BD prices at Amazon.

Examples: American Psycho $10.00, American History X $10.49 (at iT $9.99 in SD only!), Reservoir Dogs $10.99 (HD only for rent at iT), W. $10.99, Doors $10.99, Blade Runner final cut $10.49 (at iT $9.99 in SD only)

Unlike Apple they are offering not just a lame selection of forgettable STV flicks, but some true collectable classics!

On a 6 foot projection or a 47" TV everybody who isn't visually challenged will notice the difference.
Even with a 720p projector iTunes "HD" looks like a halfway decent SD DVD transfer at best. The BD advantage is already noticeable in 720p.
The real kick-ass boost of course you'll get with 1080p screening.
IMHO the difference between BD 1080p vs. iTunes "HD" is comparable to Laserdisc vs. anamorphic DVD 13 years ago.

How many people do you know who went on buying laserdiscs when DVD came out?
But maybe you don't know people who watched laserdisc at all. Because unlike Bluray, laserdisc was a true niche format for enthusiasts only.

*gets excited, goes to look at list*

Now I know why they are priced at $9.99

I can tell you this. It still annoys me I forgot to get my money back when I saw disaster movie in the theater. I just wanted out of there that bad.

Apple would have to pay me to download it, and pay me again to actually WATCH it. About $10 & $20, for a total of $30.

At least the article addresses the fact that DRM'd 720p video purchases are not worth more than $9.99 tops in 2010.

$0.99 for a digital download in 2010, T O P S !

especially if the content is older than 2-3 years so is considered "catalogue"...
