iPod iTunes Store Gift Cards

Hello everyone,
I've received an iTunes gift card from a friend, but I've got a question about it.
I have a Apple ID, which is linked with a credit card.
Can I buy music and apps with that gift card on the same account?
I mean, if I buy something, will that automatically be with the money from the gift card? Cause I don't want money to be taken from my bank account, I want to use the gift card. (sorry if this explanation isn't very clear :/)

Yes, you can. To link the gift card with your account, click the "Redeem" link in the iTunes Store.

I'm pretty sure it defaults to the gift card when you purchase apps, too.
