    Hello,
I have an iPhone 3G unlocked/jailbroken with firmware 06.15 and it works fine. However, when I connect it to the computer to sync with iTunes, iTunes detects my phone and then it tells me that it cannot read the contents of the phone and I need to restore it. I can't even restore it since I read on another site to delete the backup and sync history to make this work. So if I'd restore it, I'd lose all my data! I'd appreciate it if someone could help me, this is really getting me annoyed!

If you restore it with the ipad bb installed you will be stuck at the Apple logo and will have to jump through many many hoops to get up and running unlocked again.
See if you can downgrade the baseband using redsnow and then restore using a custom 4.2.1 ipsw that doesnt touch/upgrade the baseband.

How can I restore it without losing my data? And is there any way I can fix this without restoring?

You cant restore without losing what's on your phone.
I hope you have a backup of your phone somewhere on your itunes library so you can restore your stuff back.
Not sure what's causing the issue and if it can be fixed without a restore.

The thing is that a thread on the apple forums said to delete the backups in order for this problem to be fixed. In the end, it didn't even fix

Oh man, even if someone said that is the solution you should have saved them or moved them somewhere else.
If you dont have any backups available at all then you're SOL.
Stay with the problem or restore and lose all your stuff that's on it now.
