Hey, I was watching "America's got talent" on HD via my Cable DVR the other evening, and was lamenting how terrible the compression is... there was so much macro-blocking during some fast sequences, especially when there are strobe lights or other lighting effects changing rapidly.
My understanding is that HD broadcasts look best at around 15-20Mbps and my cable company is compressing those down to 10-11Mbps. This is MPEG2 right?
What is the compression rate of an AppleTV show?
Would I get a better picture viewing experience by watching TV via AppleTV?
