Well I for one think this is great news. I've got a soft spot for iTunes U as it is in no small part responsible for the fact that, at age 32, I start studying for a BA in a month or so.

That's terrific. Good for you.

Sharing knowledge is one of the most important things we can do.

As a high school kid thinking about college iTunes U is great, I use it to learn my subjects in high school on a college level so i do well in my classes.

Best thing? it's all free. This does deserve to be on page 1 this is a really good over looked service that apple has and maybe if more people actually used it for themselves they would see how useful it is.

iTunes U has to be one of the most underrated things Apple has made available. Think about all that knowledge for free.

I think this is very interesting, and probably wouldn't have seen it if it were on Page 2, so thanks MR.

I didn't even know my school (NYU) was on there! They have some decent content posted, too.

For an educator, the possibilities can be quite extraordinary.

We had a faculty member who normally teaches just a couple sections of a course on religions (among others), and his course was highlighted on the iTunes U landing page one week. His course got over 100,000 downloads in just a few weeks.

In the course of a normal teaching career, reaching that many face-to-face "hits" would be impossible.

An absolute Treasure

iTunes U is a treasure. Just think there are people that pay a substantial sum of money to hear these lectures, and we get to listen in for free. The only problem I have is the quality of the audio in some of them. I put this right up there with Project Gutenberg.

I love iTunes U....love it. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to computer classes? I'm not that experienced with computers as a whole and love my Mac but would like to learn more about what it can really do. Where should I start?

Remember, I'm talking about iTunesU....free is beautiful!!!

thanks

This is an unalloyed good in the world. To make available some of the best lectures anywhere is wonderful. Not everyone gets a chance to go to these universities, but now just about anyone can listen and learn. The commuter on the train or in the car can listen to philosophy lectures. The farmer in the tractor can be studying statistics. The teenager walking to school can listen to business theory. Some kid can watch an astronomy lecture and be inspired.

Never before in human history has so much knowledge been available to the masses. This is a very good thing. Who knows what Mozart-in-the-rough will now be reached who otherwise might have spent a lifetime in relative ignorance through the circumstances of his or her birth?

Well said!! Apple iPhones, iPods, & now IPSec have the ability to change the course and reduce the expense of human education and sciences in one single sweep!

Never before has education, and knowledge been shared soneasy and yet in quality so wide spread. Even if iTunes U is still focused on USA Colleges and Universities; this can spread like wild fire and if Apple takes a sample profit hit can spread world wide before Chrome or Android can even think of getting any traction.
