And how many downloaded the album, but listened to nothing, as they never open iTunes anymore?

It downloaded automatically. I deleted without listening to even one second (not my cup of tea). Do I count in those statistics?

Not me, didn't bother. Maybe I'm too hipster, it seemed when they threw a free album at me, I had to do everything in my power to not listen to it.

Wow, real life like the fight in IRAQ, Syria, the Middle East, Isis, Ebola, Hong Kong, North Korea, etc etc etc. To see to so many of you whining about "free music being forced on me" has become so important to so many of you to literally focus so much energy on something so insignificant in the scheme of things ---

Apple heard your bitching.

Go help feed the homeless. Do some good in the world.

Be happy you are alive for god sake. Get some perspective here.

Isn't there a phone to go bend and freak out and your heads falling off about or something?

Which war are you fighting in, hero?

"To help put this into perspective," [Cue] says, "prior to this, 14 million customers had purchased music from U2 since the opening of the iTunes Store in 2003."

lol this quote shows exactly what a complete marketing bs those new numbers are. as if all those people would have downloaded it if it was an app that offers it as a free download for example instead of auto downloading on each device let alone would have paid for it

Even if 5 million heard the record from beginning to end that's success in the eyes of impressions.

Just because people tune into a television show in big numbers doesn't translate into "likes". The proof will come in hard sales numbers

U2 simply isn't relevant. This relationships should end.

As an addition: I'm not upset that it was free but i think this relationship needs to end.

I was wondering if anyone here actually liked this album?

Do you like it?

Well, this could be better as a new thread but I'm lazy. If anyone wants to do it..... do it.

Go help feed some more homeless instead.

I love U2, huge fan but the way this album was rolled out was WRONG and an embarrassment to Apple and the U2.

It should have been free and nothing more. Here is a free album, have at it if you desire.

I actually liked the album. Not gonna be my favorite, but it was actually better than I thought it would be. My favorite tracks on the album are Volcano, Every Breaking Wave, California and Song for Someone ain't too bad.

I still don't see the fuss people have over getting something for free. I personally wouldn't care if they pushed out Katy Perry, Chris Brown or REO Speed wagon. I don't like any of them but I wouldn't raise a fit over it unless they didn't provide a "delete tool" for it.

Wondering what you're all talking about.

Oh yes, it's some form of payment for downloading and testing the iOS 8 beta versions. Should be ready for prime time soon:)
