My wife had an iPhone 5. I am giving her my iPhone 5s. I made a backup of her 5 and am trying to restore the 5s with her backup.

Everything seems to be going fine until the end when I get a message that "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or is not compatible with the iPhone"

I tried updating her 5 to 8.02. I tried restoring the 5s and then restoring all to no avail.

The backup process seems to go fine.

What am I missing?

Is it a local backup or in the cloud?

If its a backup in the cloud its probably down, see: https://www.macrumors.com/2014/09/29/all-icloud-services-down-for-some-users/
