iTunes won't sync an album to my iPad

I recently bought a CD which I copied to iTunes on my Air, and I can play the album from there without problems. However, the songs won't copy over to my iPad. They show up in the music library of my iPad when I view it through iTunes on my Air, but they are 'greyed out'. When I look in the music app on my iPad, I can't see the album at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I've never had this problem before 😕
 
Are you using the same iTunes account to view the content on all the devices?

Also, what happens when you hard connect the iPad to the Air? Can you copy the files over via a hard connect?
