I recently got a new iPod after my last one was stolen.

The music which is already on there is been annoying as it keeps changing my iPod to manage music manually, which when you change back you have to erase and sync, which as i have 28gb of stuff, this takes a while.

After i do erase and sync, when i connect it to iTunes it will not update properly and comes up with the error message say "An Unknown error (-48) occured and your iPod can't update". so i can only put some of my music on there

Have you tried running any other updates on the iPod? I advise then to repair permissions/drive directly from OS X DVD(a lot of people would disagree) but it's better to try something than nothing.

Well my iPod is now updating fine, but i will not know properly till it has finished updating which will take a long while as it gets completely full!

Thanks for all your help
