Last month I bought a new iMac running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6. My problem is.. I load a C.D to down load a few songs for a video project. iTunes opens and let me play about 11 tracks and then rejects the disk. After that I load a new C.D and iTunes cant be open. I go to Application and click unto iTunes and it tells me iTunes is not responding.
Any help please as this just happen in the last 2 days.
Thank You.

What external disk reader/recorder are you using? I'm wondering about a compatibility issue.

However, perhaps for your purposes you don't need iTunes. You can set System Preferences>CDs & DVDs to "Ignore" so that iTunes doesn't even start when you insert an audio CD...so once inserted you can then just navigate to the CD in Finder and "Preview" the tracks there. To rip a song for your project you just drag it from the CD to somewhere on your computer.

Thank you Brian. I'm using FCP to insert my royalty free music. I have a folder in iTune. I can play my c.d dont know what you call the box which plays C.D.s and burns DVD.
I will open a folder on my external hard drive and transfer them into there. What I can understand WHY iTunes is behaving in this manner. Thank You again.

Make sure your CD/DVD player is plugged into the back of your machine and not an external hub.

Thank you for that but I have one of those Apple little square box connected. Today iTunes came back on my computer after doing a restart.
