Hi yall.
Has anyone updated to iTunes 7.1 yet?
Well, there is one thing I don't understand...
What are the new "sort album", "sort artist", "sort count", checkboxes in the view options?
Thanks.

I don't know, but I really like the "Year" option. Has that always been there? In my CD catalog I have artists alphabetically and then the albums in release order...I wish there was an easy way to do this in iTunes and on my iPod, and maybe these new options do that.

Sort Fields

It is really a neat new feature. If you get information for the file, and go to the Sort Tab, it will allow to Override the Fields names when Sorting. I.E. by default when you install 7.10, get the property of any file with the word "The" as the First word in the field and go to the sort page it will say "Beatles" instead of "The Beatles" and when you sort the Artist name is still "The Beatle", but now it appears under "B" instead of "T". You can use this to over ride names that start with "!", "...", "The", "(", etc...

You could sort, for example, Jimi Hendrix under the Hs rather than the Js. Or for hip hop tracks, if the artist is Ghostface feat. Obie Trie, for instance, it messes with the sorting, so you could opt to sort them all as "Ghostface" instead.

This could be (at least the start of) the answer to many of my small gripes with, the otherwise excellent, iTunes... :)

Now, give us the ability to point to the same physical file from multiple albums (in a user friendly way)...
