existing IUP customer. Went in for upgrade. When trying to activate new iPhone on AT&T account, says number not in use and Account not found. AT&T rep sitting there says account is fine. No issues

Seems like Apple and AT&T severs barfing. Anyone seen this issue?

Did they give you the option of trading in the phone to close the old loan and just letting you buy the phone through some other program (e.g. outright)?

They allowed me to buy it outright and come in at a later date to switch same phone to the IUP. Did that. But curious if this issue is happening anywhere else?

I just did the upgrade for my 6S+ to 7+ this morning via IUP for ATT at Apple store. It went fine without a glitch. The whole process took less than 30min from the time I was standing in line(few people in line) to walking out the of the store with a new 7+.

No issues with AT&T for me this morning, renewing the IUP went very smoothly, except for one hiccup where the credit card server timed out, but it went through fine the second time.

I had the same exact issue. I tried multiple times with me and my wife's phone number and did not work. Used my kids numbers and worked fine. My area code for my wife's and my number is 901 but my kids worked fine with the area code 757. I went ahead and upgraded it through my kids number. Definitely something going on with Apple and Att talking to each other.

I'm not on IUP, and I've been having trouble ordering a phone since last Friday. Apple could not verify my AT&T information. AT&T has no idea why. Short of finding a phone in store, I cannot order one at all without verifying my AT&T account.

I had no problem this morning, in an out in 20 minutes also had situation where the first time connecting to the credit check it timed out, could've been 15 minutes if that had Not have happened....

Ah thanks. Seems that way. Will head back to apple later in a day or two to see workarounds. Seems simple system overloads

Spoke to AT&T and they exactly described the issue you are facing and said it's fixed now. So u might wanna try it again. See if it helps

I just got back from Apple Georgetown, empty-handed for this exact reason. Currently iPhone Upgrade Program Member, expecting to trade in my iPhone 6s for the new 7 Plus. I was there for almost an hour with an Apple associate trying to figure out the issue. Luckily, they had an AT&T representative present at the store who informed us that at around 1:33pm EST AT&T sent out a notification to them that their servers were being overloaded and it was randomly categorizing numbers as inactive lines. Apparently I got the short end of the stick.

Luckily, the store rep told me that they would be holding my reservation for the rest of the entire weekend, and that they'd personally call me once AT&T resolves the issue. The AT&T rep said this usually happens every year around 12:00pm~1:00pm, because that's when California customers are joining in on iPhone activations, thus flooding their systems.

Haha no wonder. I had this issue in CA area :)
