This is a question for those who are existing IUP members and were able to pre-order a phone last Friday when they went live.

Did you place an online order or did you just make a reservation?

My friends said that they just have reservations and will complete everything in store. I have an order and went through the loan approval online. So I am wondering if I somehow screwed up something up in the process.

I also just signed up for the IUP, and you had to schedule for delivery, however, I plan to cancel and reserve in store.

If you are an existing IUP member (trading in the 6s and upgrading to the 7) your only option was to reserve in store. New IUP members were able to order phones for home delivery.

I did both. I ordered a new phone through a new IUP account that will be delivered this Friday (Black 128GB +), and made an appointment to trade my current 6s+ in at an Apple Store Friday afternoon and pick up a 7 plus. My wife will take the phone I pick up (silver), and I'm taking the black.

Next year I assume I'll have to make reservations for both.

You screwed up-- the same exact way I did. HOWEVER, I called 800MyApple twice to get 100% confirmation that you can take that iPhone being delivered to you back to an Apple store, return it for refund, and then immediately re-purchase it under your iUP. I was told by 800MyApple that many, many people did this by mistake and Apple acknowledges it and therefore will let us return and repurchase with no questions.

When did you sign up? the first day or so of pre order there was a link under the estimated shipping time that said check store availability or something. those are now gone though I think.

i had a verizon rep pre order for me, he ordered JB 7+ 128gb.. when i went on to look at the order it said shipping in November so I went through and cancelled today and signed up for IUP Black 7+ VZW 2-3 week shipping, Imma use that as my backup and hope to cancel and reserve one in store

Yeah I think they stopped taking new reservations for launch day a few days ago (besides existing IUP members trying to upgrade)... Should be able to try for a reservation starting Saturday (or Friday night whenever they replenish the daily stock i'm not sure when that is exactly)

I am an existing IUP member since the program started last year. The phone isn't being delivered to my home, it is for store pickup. However, instead of being just a reservation where I have to complete everything in store, I already went through a ll of the loan stuff online.

Are you sure you upgraded and didn't just start a new IUP ?

I am almost 100% positive that I chose the existing member option. I called Apple to see if they could tell, and they said that the system shouldn't allow me to create a new one on my phone number if I already was member.

So basically, what you did was start an entire NEW, second loan, instead of using the upgrade option on your existing loan.

I did the same thing. I am 100% sure that I chose existing member, not new member. Next, it said that no in-store pickup was available, so I chose to get it shipped. It wasn't til I spoke with Apple on Tuesday that they confirmed that I created a new IUP, on the same number no less. Sounds like something was screwed up with their user flow on the online store. Glad to hear that they are acknowledging this and allowing us to return and repurchase under our existing loans.
