Yeah, I found on the problem (why it didn't auto-populate with the IUP choice)...

Turns out, when I replaced my original iPhone 12 Pro Max (bought via IUP) under AppleCare+, the replacement iPhone was never associated with the IUP. So I'm on hold with Apple now to sort it all out.
That happened to me a few years ago. Such a pain. Finally someone high up in the AppleCare department got it sorted. Sad to hear they never fixed this for other folks. Hope they fix yours quickly.

Hoping someone may be able to weigh in:

When I first did the preapproval, it told me I couldnt be approved and would get an email from Citizens explaining why. I immediately realized I'd forgotten to lift my credit freeze with the 3 reporting agencies. I went and lifted the freeze, re-submitted for approval, and this time it went through and said I was preapproved.

About 2 hours later I got an email from Citizens explaining that they couldn't approve my request because they were unable to access my credit report.

My question is: do you think the email was just on a delay from that first approval attempt that was unsuccessful and I can disregard it now that the Store app is showing I'm all set for purchase Friday? That's what I suspect but it's frustrating to not have received an email confirmation from Citizens saying I was approved. Maybe that'll show up later?

Thanks!
Sounds like it is just a delay. Did you still receive the “you’re all set” email from Apple Store with the iUP loan pre approved notation? If so I think you’ll be fine. Double check inside your apple store app too, as it will refresh and pull the details. Look in the For You tab.

Yep, got the "all set" and when I go to For You" it's ready for preorder.

Ok just called Citizens Bank. For anyone who may come across this, I had to first speak to regular support and then they transferred me to a specialist who seemed to be well-versed in the IUP. He told me he saw both my applications and the second one did indeed go through and get approved. He told me to disregard the first email stating they couldn't pull my credit report, and to expect an approval email in the next day or two.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Took many calls and hours on the phone to fix...10 days later it was fixed.

I left the program with my 11… I just create my own program with AC+… Works out cheaper.

I am ready to go with the 13 :)

First time IUP signup/pre-approval here.

Just did 2 phones, mine which is AT&T and the SO, who has t-mobile. Both worked like a champ.

Her t-mobile line is still on her parents account and I even used her pop's last 4 social and her phone number while on my AT&T phone to confirm the t-mobile account and it worked perfectly.

just make sure you use the primary account holder's last 4 SSN digits to confirm the line on the account. I did get an error when I used hers and not her dad's ssn last 4 digits.

I wonder if it's the type of account I have with T-Mobile (Magenta Business Data.) This is the error I get with the correct info:

"Your current T-Mobile account type isn’t supported on apple.com"

What T-Mobile account does your SO have?

Ugh. they literally cannot fix this. After nearly 2 hours on hold, they try to blame it on iPhone 13 being in pre-order availability only. "Try again on Sept 17" they say. B.S. that ain't going to work, either. I'm having a supervisor call me tomorrow.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I recall being told something similar and had to have a call back too after multiple calls and mass confusion on their end. At the time, I didn’t know it was because I had my iPhone replaced once, and neither did they, so after many hours they happened to find someone who saw the problem. Maybe recommend to that supervisor that this is still a problem for many after all these years. Either way, good luck and I hope it gets sorted.

Thanks. Based on the buy-flow via the app, they already know this is already a potential problem. Via one of the many people I talked to tonight, I got a Citizens One rep, who confirmed "yeah this happens ALL the time, you'll have to talk to AppleCare+ team so they can update your serial number - we cannot". Of course the AC+ team couldn't/didn't help.

^^ Of course, after this screen (with my current/correct serial number + IMEI), I get an error that my iPhone is not currently enrolled in the IUP and I can buy a new one outright.

Oh, cool, never saw that screen before and they definitely didn’t have it when I had my issue. But that sucks it’s not working. Maybe they’ll be able to resolve it for you quickly.

Edit: Found this old thread with all the folks having this issue way back when. Seems like it was a pain for them too https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-my-iphone-is-not-enrolled-yet.2133951/page-7

No
So my 12th payment is due the day before the phone delivers (hopefully). So either way I will pay it but I hope they don’t collect it when I order this week and then auto charge it again the day before it delivers.

I believe it is one of the Magenta 55+ plans.

I haven't decided which iPhone to upgrade to so I didn't go through the pre-approval yet, but I recall on the first Pre-Approval screen something about September 18th as the day I can upgrade without making extra payments. If I place my pre-order on September 17th will I be paying two payments? Is it better financially to wait a day to pre-order?

I have this same issue. No 12 Pro replacement, my serial is just not in the system. I did have two IUP phones, my 11 pro was fully paid off a month ago, but that shouldn’t affect the serial number on the 12 pro…

Charging me the 12th payment. Kind of frustrating considering I had to wait for Apple to deliver the Pro Max last year after the other models. Am I the only one that feels that way?!
It’s why I let the program.

I created my own program with AC+, and I can flex for any early/delayed releases.

Good luck. It’s a miserable process and the majority of people you will deal with will be clueless; including supervisors.

i would email Tim Cook. It will be assigned to the “executive team”. They will get it done.

WTF
Most prepaid is not supported. On IUP however I modified my att plan 9 months ago; it’s no longer supports at Apple.com .

It’s nice that this time around you can pre-set for the sim-free model as well. Unlike previous pre-orders you just had to favorite it.

That's my next step. I'm awaiting a call from a supervisor, but not hopeful. If I go the executive escalation route, that will certainly take 3-5 days. Maybe I get a smart supervisor that can fix in 24 hours?
