That usually means the files haven't finished downloading completely (or they're corrupt)

Those are parts of a multi-file (split) compression. Make sure you have all the associated parts downloaded, then double-click on the rar.001 and they will all be uncompressed into the original file.

It doesn't,
UnrarX or Stuffit Expander will expand those files to your desktop or wherever the file is located. I prefer Stuffit Expander, comes with more options. and its simpler.

It cannot. But thankfully there are a few good free apps out there that can.

You should download Split & Concat to handle these files. You will want to concatenate them (ie. reassemble the rar file). You can get it here:
