What size watch do you have, and if this isn't getting too personal, what does your wrist measure?

I use a 45mm. I could use the 41mm but I prefer the larger screen since I’m almost 50 and my eyes are not what they were.

My wrist is 140mm That’s not super precise - I just used a strip of paper and then the iPhone’s measure tool - but it’s going to be reasonably accurate.

I'm in the same boat :)

I bought the SS link and had a couple Hermes watches and after that had no more desire for straps. A good active strap, SS, and leather, I’m set. SS is my go to as it is far and above the classic look, esp with some metal polish.

I’d suggest another hobby… smoking meat, growing a nice lawn/ garden, maintaining your car.

Validation from the folks on MR will never happen, either side pro or anti any product.

That said post the band collection and let’s see the spread!

I have the green alpine loop with my ultra, it's the most comfortable and easiest to get on and off band I've ever had a on a watch, also secure when I surf with it.
Also have the black sport band but rarely use it.
Would like a black alpine loop but no can do from apple.

I've fallen out of love with my Apple Watch, and don't even feel like wearing it anymore, yet I'm still looking for new straps to buy?

Is this an addiction, or quite simply Apple's genius marketing at work?

Wishing you all well.

I think these are two different things. Let’s break it down. As for you buying straps for your watch, it’s an addiction and it’s fine. We all want our accessory (tech accessories included) to look and feel new. It releases dopamine when we realised what we have and wear looks and feels newer from yesterday.

As for you falling out of love with your watch, you might want to get a different watch and use it for few days. I recently bought a G-Shock since I felt I wanted to move on from my Apple Watch, and this just made me miss the AW more. Sometimes we just need to get away from someone or something for a few days to know what it feels not having them/it.

Cheers.

It's astonishing how all our behavior is someone else's fault. "I didn't sleep with your sister on purpose. It was the genius of Apple Marketing!"

I’m at a loss as to why anybody would want more than one or two straps. Admittedly I did buy a black strap for my original S0 watch. No way in hell I was going to wear an effeminate white strap. IIRC I’m still using that strap on my second watch which I bought a couple of years ago.

I always try to match my bands with my clothes.

Today I have a green top but it has yellow accents, so my phone case is yellow and my strap is yellow

We are all different though. It’s just my thing.

I also take some heavy duty meds. I feel fatigued by what I have and the meds do not help it at all but you just have to force yourself to get out there. Once those endorphins start kicking in, you will feel a little bit better but its the knowing you went out and did it, which will benefit your mental health. I'm getting ready to go for a walk (with my AW) and I'll come back for a light workout. I'm going to be 57 in the fall so heavy workouts are a thing of the past (have to go easy on those joints).

I dislike my Apple Watch #7 so much (😜) that I’m going to buy The Apple Watch Ultra in a couple months 👍

My watch is usually used for steps, paying for groceries and as a alarm clock, mainly.

My previous reply to you was removed by a moderator because somehow they concluded it was intentionally provocative, so let me attempt to rephrase the point I was (clumsily) trying to make, in the hope I won’t upset anyone this time.

You are asking the forum whether your behaviour is “an addiction”.
My reply to you is that I am not qualified to advise on what would constitute a medical matter.

That is the question that it is being asked.
Perhaps not quite the correct question for a technical forum (and this is the point).

If you are seriously concerned as to whether you have “an addiction”, you should consult a behavioural mental health practitioner. If you are not seriously concerned, maybe you should rephrase your question instead.

Addiction: a neuropsychological disorder defining pervasive and intense urge to engage in maladaptive behaviours despite their harmful consequences.

I wasn’t slating the Apple Watch.

Just merely mentioning that I don’t really want to wear it these days.

I’m keeping ahold of it, because watchOS 10 intrigues me.

The post was not to slate the watch, but more to question this addiction I have, when it comes to buying new straps.

MR edited the title of this thread, which completely spins the message behind it.
Just turn your watch off and put it in a drawer. Wear your other watch or no watch at all.

Move on with life.
