I have not had this problem myself but have read about a few fixes. One way some people say helps is to delete your WiFi information on your iPhone and then enter it again. Another thing to try would be to reboot both your Apple Watch and your iPhone.

First, you must be connected to your router via 2.4ghz, and not 5ghz. Some people say you can use 5ghz Afterwards (for iPhone only, watch does not support 5ghz) , but for this explanation we'll leave that out.

Once your iPhone is connected to the router via 2.4ghz connection, it will share the connection details with your watch. If you are ever out of Bluetooth range of your phone, the watch will connect to your phone via wifi. As long as it has a Bluetooth connection, it will not use wifi to save battery power.

Somehow the iWatch wifi finally started working & the iWatch is working without benefit of the bluetooth on the iPhone which is turned off... I did shut off my Apple Airport Extreme and reset it as requested... Thanks for your help. It is appreciated

You need to trade it for a Apple watch as the I watches were lemons.
