Ok everyone, I really need your help here. I have several domain names registered through godaddy and I have iweb 08 as well.

I have created a couple of websites using iweb and I have them forwarded to godaddy. The problem is this. When people put the www in before my address, they get a message that a username and password is required. I do not have the username or password box checked on the iweb and therefore this should not occur.

However, if someone simply omits the www before thad address, then they are forwarded to my iweb website (and by the way, the domain name does not show on the url, my generic iweb address does for the iweb site.)

I cant figure it out! help

Hey,

This sounds like an issue with the DNS of your account. The www part of the web address should be a cname record (alias) that points to the same location as yourdomainname.com. At the moment it sounds like www is redirecting to somewhere else or it may not be set up at all.

There should be some DNS settings under the domain management stuff on GoDaddy.

I am not familiar with GoDaddy but I found this which might help:

Good luck!

Just A Newbie Myself

I use GoDaddy and iWeb as well. I've had great luck just calling GoDaddy's customer service hotline with any and all issues. They seem to be pretty patient with us newbies. Give it a try. Wish u the best of luck!

How to fix

You can actually just add a second A record within the DNS management part of the GoDaddy site for your domains.

so right now you have yoursite.com IN A (IP address)
you can also add a second A record like this:

www.yoursite.com IN A (IP address)
