So I'm trying to publish a website, which has just been a disaster. I made a site, and then tried to publish it to my local folder so I could see that everything was working. It took about 5 tries for everything to show up correctly. Then I tried to upload it to a free web hosting site to see if I want to permanently use iWeb or not. It does not work, and I think I know why. The domain I registered is http://www.amvarch.pcriot.com, and when it tries to upload it adds the "photo" project name from iWeb and attaches it so that when its "done" it says the site has been published. So help please?

Hi,

I had this issue when I started using iWeb and got around it by creating a file called index.html which I placed in the root of my web space and which redirects to the corresponding file in the specific iWeb site folder.

I used the redirect form like this within the header of my html file:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= meerkats/Welcome.html" />

My site is http://www.meerkats.uk.com in case you are interested.

I hope this helps although I'm not sure if this solution is the "correct" one or if there are better ones.

Good luck,
Craig.

Can you explain that in simpler terms? I'm not sure what to do, I'm new with all this.

Heres the next problem:

Everthing on this page is just stretched and messed up. On another page the font was switched to another font and made black, but another page has the same font/color and it looks perfectly fine.

iWeb already does what he suggested actually so don't worry about it.

Be sure to just upload the contents of the folder that you publish to. Don't upload the entire folder, just everything inside it. One of the files directly inside the published folder should be index.html. That file does what the other posted made his do.

Ok, Thanks. So how do I fix the annoying layout issue/lack of photos in slideshow?

Hard to say simply by looking at screen shots. I'm not a iWeb fan. I hand code all my web sites. Your problem is not uncommon though from what I've seen people post here. I know some people just restart the page when it gives them too many issues.

So again, I apologize, I'm new with all this. Anyways I uploaded the iWeb website contents to my website, and now I'm wondering where the files go in the website to make things work.

Thanks

Good Update finally! The site is up and running. The 2 problems I'm facing is that the indexing to get to the site is a little wrong, and the video does not stream very well, probably because its HD. I also disabled the quicktime controls and set it so that it automatically starts, but it does not automatically start.

Heres a screenshot of the site:
