after installing an up grade to Iweb my G4 OSXPanther version won't now allow me to change my website (hosted by mac). Troubleshooting directed me to upgrade to Tiger, so I bought Install Tiger discs on ebay and are nervous about loading them and stuffing things up.

Insert the disk, restart the computer while holding the C key from when the startup chime sounds until the Apple logo appears, and when prompted, tell it to upgrade. Very straightforward.

Before you do any upgrading to Tiger, make darn sure you have a backup of your iWeb working file called domain.sites just in case, since you cannot continue working on your sites without a good copy of that single file!

You can find the file at the following path:
Your HD/Users/your user name/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites

When you say you bought disks on eBay, did you purchase grey System Restore disks and if so are they for your model Mac? If they are grey and are not for your particular model you will probably have no success using them unfortunately. :(

The reason I ask is that the retail installer disk for Tiger was black and it was a single DVD, not multiple disks (although a few sets of CDs were sent out by Apple but not sold in stores).

yep I got the grey ones alright for a g5 mines g4, just my luck. How about I uninstall Iweb and go back to the start. Reinstall Ilife 08 ( Iweb) and ignore all the updates. All I need to do is get back to normal.
thanks for the help
