i just downloaded a trial version of iwork. It's very nice but I have one question- is there any way I can set iwork to look like neo office or office 2008. meaning, that it has grayish borders on the side of the white "paper"?

heres the link to the neo office image.http://rasterweb.net/raster/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/neooffice.png

    thanks,
    jay

is this really important to you?

How about expanding the page by clicking on the drag corner at the bottom right part of the window?

yes it is important to me, it sounds silly but I like it that way. making the window larger doesn't fix this issue.

I think everyone is asking why do you want it to look like another program? Is there a feature you want to access or what?

I doubt there will be any plug-in to "skin" it. It's simply too new.

You kind of get a similar effect by doing the following:

    1. Click on the View button
    2. Click Show Layout

Now I know what you are talking about. It bothered me when I first starting using iWork 08. I got used to it. You could do something like what I did in this screenshot.

It's closer to what you want, but you're not going to get those large (not the same with showing layout) gray boarders.

The other option that is new to iWork 09 and I think will be useful is full screen. It give a dark room effect. Very cool.

what i really want to do is utilize every single inch of my screen. you know how when you first open iwork 09 it opens this tiny window? well, i want to maximize it to use 20 inches and have that border thing on the side. or is there no way to do that?

why did Apple design it this way? Is there an advantage in that design over the others?

This annoys me too. I'm picky of little things, and would be something I'd like.

I was really hoping that Pages would remember Windows Sizes in this one..

Set the window size and position on a blank document, then save the blank document as a template. Then select that template when you open a new window.

You can also change the color of the full screen mode's black borders - they can be gray or any other color you prefer.
