What do you think? Will it happen? I searched and was surprised not to find any threads on this topic.

I think it's only a matter of time, especially with Office coming to windows 7 phones. I think it will be sometime this year, possibly as early as the 4.0 release.

My PocketPC from 2003 had Word and Excel on it (and a folding keyboard), so I thought it was "only a matter of time" when I got my iPhone in 2008. I wouldn't think it would be able to run the iPad version even when 4.0 is out. At the same time, there are options in the app store I have not availed myself of. Pretty much already accustomed to not having it.

Well the difference is now Apple has a head start with the iPad suite. And I agree the iPhone would need a slightly separate version designed for a smaller screen, but they have the foundation

well that definitely is coming out this summer. Apple announced it :)
