So I jail broke my phone long ways back just haven't done anything else with the software. So my question is when I going to update on the 17th to the 3.0 just don't care to stay jail broken will it reset my phone back to default firmware just like a normal IPhone and then if I wanted to rejail break it later i can?

Yeah you can go back to stock firmware and if you do want to jailbreak again I'm sure the dev team will have the 3.0 jailbreak out by then. It usually only takes them a few days max to jailbreak a firmware.
