Jailbreak 3GS - 4.0.2 with new bootrom. Impossible?

I'm reading it is not possible to Jailbreak this 3GS.... unless I upgrade to 4.1, but then I won't be able to unlock.

Is this correct. Is there no way to jailbreak and then unlock a 3GS (4.0.2, BB 05.13.04, new bootrom)?
