Hi there.
I have an iPhone 4S 32GB and this should be my first jailbreak.
I'm quite confused: I don't know if jailbreaking is the way for me.

I like it for:
- themes
- cydia apps (some are very useful and cool, like IntelliscreenX)

But, I'm also a bit worried: I've read somewhere that the iPhone will be less secure and I know that I won't have immediately future updates of iOS.
Is this right? (the security question)

Anyway, is there something I must do after jailbreaking the iPhone?

Thank you and sorry for my english. ;)

I was doing some researches and I've found that if I jailbreak my iPhone, I should change SSH passwords, or something like that.
Is this true? And how can I do that?

Thank you.

The phone is not less secure as long as you change your SSH password.
And yes it takes sometime for an new iOS to be jailbroken.

You can always go to the new version, but you will lose your jailbreak until a new 1 is brought out.

Changing the password is simple, here are the instructies:
http://cydia.saurik.com/openssh.html
http://cydia.saurik.com/password.html

I'm following the guide to change the SSH password but I've got a problem:
I'm on a Windows machine and I've downloaded Putty (as written in the guide). The problem is that I can't type the password. The application asks me the password, but I can't just type it.

Some of those programs just don't show the password as your typing it. Maybe its there, you can't see it. Did you try just doing to and seeing if it works?

Otherwise try it with Mobile Terminal instead:

It doesn't work even if I type that.

Anyway, I have also a problem with MobileTerminal: I've installed it, but the app doesn't start. (The app opens, but then it immediately closes.)

Sorry again for my english ;)

Add the repo www.ijailbreak.com/repository and inside that repo is the newest mobile terminal (version 520-1 I think). I've been getting mobile terminal from this repo for over a year and it's always served me well. In fact I used it yesterday to change my password. Im on a 4s 5.1.1. I can guarantee this version will work for you to change both the mobile password and the root password. You need to change both passwords.

FYI when you change the password with mobile terminal you will not see the password as you type it. Don't worry it's there. You jus can't see it.
