Hey so I just got my iPhone 4 and want to jailbreak. i'm on 4.0.1 but just had a couple of questions before I do so.

First off, is there anything I should do before or after I jailbreak my phone. So far I've just made a copy of camera+ because I dont want to lose it if something goes wrong.. I also heard that its a good idea to save SHSH blobs. But is there anything else i should do just in case something goes wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Back-up your iPhone with iTunes. That's it. If anything bad happens during jailbroken state, just restore your iPhone from the back-up and done.

that's pretty much it, make sure you got a fresh backup and them go to JailBreakMe.com and enjoy. :D:D

That's the most important part. Apple are still signing 4.0.1 but they could stop at any minute. If this happens you won't be able to restore to anything other than 4.0.2 and no jailbreak for you. Get your SHSH blobs through TinyUmbrella now.
