Does anyone know how to accomplish this yet? This phone (iPhone 3GS running 4.0) has NEVER been jailbroke. Anywhere to watch? In a couple days you think?

Nope, no way to accomplish this yet for your phone. Keep an eye out here.

No one knows a timeframe. Could be 5 minutes, could be 5 months.

Last I heard limera1n was fake. Geohot has posted on his twitter several times he is not working on any jailbreak right now.

So dev team is the way to go? HOPEFULLY there is a way. I don't have blobs or anything, or I'd be downgrading and then upgrading.

    Crap.

Doesn't PwnageTool 4 already do this assuming your phone is already jailbroken using PwnageTool in the past? Or do you have to have your SHSHwhatever on file with Cydia which the OP doesn't have? I'm trying to update from 3.1.2 to 4.0 and keep my unlock.

No. If she has the apple issued 4.0 update she cannot downgrade or jailbreak at this point. The jailbreak by pwnage uses custome firmware.

Apple verifies the firmware of every restore now with their server and will reject any downgrade of firmware unless you have saved your SHSH files, in which case you can do it with Saurik servers.

Guess it goes to show, if you can jailbreak, you should. Even if you are going to restore back to original settings....
