    Hello everyone,
I looked in the forum a little bit everywhere but I cannot find anything appropriate to answer my question.
I just bought a 3GS and want to jailbreak my 3G. I do not understand the procedure to do so. There is so many different ways, many are supposedly legals, others not. Some do not require any computer skills, some others do. I guess I am totally lost and really do not know where to start and how. I found a website http://www.iphoneworldwide.com/ that apparently is safe and reliable ("used by apple employees" i quote) and it is said to "unlock" your phone. Once you do so, can you change your theme and use different icons or do you have to use another program to do so? Is jailbreak and unlock the same? What if I go to Europe with my 3G, is it gonna work properly on a provider's partner? Does anyone know a good step-by-step secure and reliable website to explain how it works and what you can expect from your iPhone once it's done?
I'm sorry for so many questions, I'm lost in translation. Lol

    Thank you very much!

    Antoine :apple:

First you jailbreak, then you unlock. The jailbreak will afford you the opportunity to add themes, icons, backgrounder, and will be available via winterboard or ssh. Unlocking allows you to go with another carrier that uses a SIM card, such as T-Mobile, Centennial and others. Good luck.....:cool::cool:

Thank you very much for your assistance.
A question remains = Can I still sync and use iTunes with the phone once it's jailbroken? Is At&t or Apple knows when you plug it in that it's unlocked and jailbroken? I don't wanna go to jail lol.
    Thank you!

Yes you can still sync just fine, download new apps from the appstore, music from iTunes, everything works just like it would on stock. And jailbreaking isn't illegal, or if it is, apple/att aren't going to come after anyone about it, the most they can do is void your warrenty, which they will. Thats the only downside as far as I can tell, vs. the many many many upsides to jailbreaking.
