Jailbreak workaround for proximity sensor?

I'm fed up with this proximity sensor - is there an app out there that'll disable the touch screen unless you double-tap home or something like that? If a dev is reading this and it doesn't already exist, please make it. I'd gladly pay $10 for such an app.

I'm at 4.1 btw... doesn't seem to have had any effect on the proximity sensor's performance (though I can see it glowing red now)

Swap it out. I just had one with a bad proximity sensor and they gave me a brand new with a much better sensor. It even came with 4.0.2 with the unlockable baseband.
