Jailbreaking 3G with 2.2

I am trying to jailbreak my 3G that has 2.2 and the problem I am having is that when I put it into DFU mode iTunes wont recognize it(I have iTunes 8.0.2)it is just giving me an error message. Am I missing something?

There is a bug on 10.5.6, where Itunes does not recognizes iPhones in DFU mode

Re-Enables DFU Mode on Mac OS X systems with 10.5.6 installed

Reboot, use the latest Pwnage tool, go through the whole thing and see if iTunes whines, if it does use iTunes 7.7.
