I just bought an iphone 4 with 4.0.1 on it, how do I save the 4.0.1 version of the software so if for some reason i upgrade i can still go back to 4.0.1? Do all I have to do is make a backup with itunes?

Not sure if you can still retrieve your SHSH's from Apple in order to be able to restore/downgrade to 4.0.1
You have to run tinyumbrella or JB the phone and click "make my life easier" on cydia.

Well hopefully they dont do anything before Friday night... I am out of town from work and dont have access to my itunes to save my SHSH's...

If I download the SHSH's off of the previous people's post, is that safe. Is it just the firmware or can it contain more. And if so is there any way to check to see if it is a good version.

Just checked and they're still signing 4.0.1. Why they're still signing it I have no idea.

Wow, thats good.
I heard a few people saying the stopped last night. Whoever needs them should grab them right now before the windows closes.

Thats just the firmware, not the SHSH's.
If you dont have your blobs itunes wont let your iphone to ever restore to that particular firmware built number.
