Jailbreaking redsnow vs evasion

When I am jailbreaking I see this two options I could do Redsn0w or Evasi0n. Whats the difference?
 
Redsn0w is for the 4 and 3GS Etc known as the older devices
The other option is for the 4s and 5 etc known as the newer devices.
