jailbreaking registered iPods

I know that for 2.2 there is no jailbreak version yet. But in the future I hope to apply it to my iPod Touch 2G.
But I have registered it. And the serial number and my name is in the Apple site. If in the future I jailbreak it, can I still use my iPod? Is it illegal to jailbreak a registered iPod? Can Apple track me? (I'm being paranoid here😱)

Jailbreaking isn't illegal. They have no way to monitor either registered or unregistered iPods.
