Jailbreaking without internet

Is there a way to jailbreak a iphone without being linked to a internet connection?

Gonna jailbreak an iphone 3gs with firmware 3.1 using pwnage tool.

As long as you have an IPSW...it SHOULD be possible. Im not sure if when "restoring" iTunes does the "checking with iphone update server" thing.

I can't remember, does the phone need iTunes to activate after the JB?
