    Hello all!

My time for jailbreak is finally here.
But as the title says, I'm having some difficulties.

Just as i slide-to-Jailbreak, safari loads for a few seconds, and then crashes. I'm back to the homescreen.

I've done some searching, and I can't find somebody else with this problem. Most people have problems with the starbackground staying put, wich has to do with the server beeing overloaded.

So, does anyone have a clue to why it won't work?
    iPhone 3GS
    iOS 4.0.0 (build 8A293)

    (And yes, I'm sure I haven't upgraded to 4.0.2).

    Thanks!

Update to 4.0.1 then retry. I had this problem earlier today but upgrading fixed it.

How did you do that, without downloading 4.0.2?

Go to Safari settings and clear cache, history and cookies. Also restart Safari by removing it from the taskbar.

If you are using the 4.0 gold master, you are SOL. Wait until 4.1 jb. I had the 4.0GM and it always crashed. Had to update to 4.0.1.

If you have previously jailbroken, your SHSH's might be on file with Saurik's Cydia server. Just change your hosts file so it reroutes itunes restore verification with the cydia server. You can then download the 4.0.1 firmware IPSW from one of the many sources on the web, and then restore by holding option (mac) or shift (windows) and the selecting the firmware you downloaded.

    Hope this helps.

I had a similar issue with my sons Ipod. I downloaded new firmware and it still went back to homescreen. I then found a link to the firnmware direct from the apple site. Installing the clean firmware from apple worked fine.

    Post in wrong thread?

OP has problems JB his iPhone. Not, restoring.

To OP, clear safari cache and cookies, reboot the phone, and try 3G instead of Wifi and vice versa.

I was just saying that a clean firmware indstalled direct from apple, meant I could jailbreak. I read that when the jb goes back to the main screen, it thinks that part of the jailbreak is already installed on the device

There is no Firefox browser on iPhone. Also I don't believe that other browsers would work as they can not gain root access, of course i may be wrong. I tried with Atomic and Some other free one and both crashed instantly just like safari

I thought all the browser apps used the Safari webkit in the SDK.
