jailbreakme.com quick question

wtf guys lol i been on this website 1 week ago roughtly now im seeing something about a website that can jailbreak the iphone is this correct? i have a 3gs with 3.1.3 andfirmware 05.12.01, can i upgrade to 4.0.1 and jailbreak? damn alot has happened in a week.
 
so i can upgrade to 4.0.1 and then just go to jailbreakme.com 100% it will work?

currently im jailbroken with spirit
