Hi guys, im rocking a jailbroken iphone 4 on 4.1 base band 1.59.00 and im having problems with my microphone, where in some calls the person on the other side cannot hear me, they hear a loud buzzing noise. I can still here them fine.

I want to get it repaired by 3, but i will need to restore it and update it to the latest firmware, so I have a few questions

1) will Apple or 3 update the firmware when they repair the phone?
2) can the latest firmware be unlocked?
3) are there any alternative fixes?

Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated

Have you tried creating a new 4.1.0 ipsw via Pwnage Tool and using that new ipsw to restore your iPhone?

Remember that after doing that "set up as new iPhone" must be selected to prevent any old conflicting settings from coming back.

As per if you do go the Apple route. They will try to update your software and firmware to the latest. That's a bad thing since no true jailbreak for iPhone OS 4.2.5 exists much less an unlock.

Just realised that whatever happens, when i get it repaired its going to be updated. So should i just deal with the problem in the meantime and when the latest ios is unlocked give it in for repair?

What's more worth it to you? My speaker has stopped working somewhat, it's really quiet. I'm trying to deal with it in the meantime until the JB for 4.2.1 comes out.
