I had the good fortune to meet Robert Ballard a number of years ago at a seminar. He's the guy who found the Titanic in the first place. During his talk he outlined just how little of the ocean has been explored - and almost none of the exploration was south of the equator. Ballard has been a big proponent of ocean exploration for a couple of decades now.

I also remember the TV show SeaQuest DSV. They made a similar call to explore the seas until it went all Sci-Fi.

And now here is James Cameron going somewhere that hasn't been visited in 50 years.

I guess my question is what are we going to do about it? Space exploration captured people's imagination. But ocean exploration...not so much. Why is that? I really think we have a lot to gain by going to our oceans. Maybe this will help to awaken the sense of exploration that seems to have faded since the Apollo missions.

But when will Avatar be released in 3D blu-ray to the general public?

It must have been really interesting to see all the sea creatures and wreckage down there.

What does he is going to find? A bunch of trash for sure. Some radioactive barrels. Even a first generation iPod.
