iPod Jammed I Pod

Hi,my daughter has a 4gb i pod but it as jammed and we cannot turn it off,or do anything with it,any advise anyone please.

What type of iPod is it? Nano, mini...? What generation?

Have you tried resetting it?

hold the select and menu buttons down for about 10 seconds.

Have you got a Mac or PC?
What is shown on the screen?
Are you sure its not on the 'HOLD' position of the lock?

I had this happen once with my 20GB 4thGen iPod, and ended up having to open the case and disconnect the battery. I wouldn't recommend trying this with a nano, however.
