Whomever leaked this information early should be brought up on charges for insider trading or misappropriation by the SEC. Any of your who traded on that information should be careful as you could be charged with insider trading as it was leaked only to some people and rather than publicly released through an official wire release.

You do know that Verizon is majority owned by Vodaphone right???

Me too. Our communication. Infrastructure is too important to rely on foreign countries.

How is Bank Of America operating?

They won't be able to rebrand Sprint as "SoftBank". There are actually legal restrictions on US companies operating with the word "Bank" in their name, without using an alternate spelling such as "Banq" or "Banc".

Ms. Cleo up in here today it seems. Everyone knows just what is or isn't going to happen with confidence. LOL.. I'm a sprint customer and I suspect this injection of money will push sprint in the right direction.

This is wrong.

I can imagine Americans thinking that Sprint is now owned by a Japanese bank.

Well we would at least grandfather in to the old ones, and we would have unlimited LTE for a price lower than the other guys!

----------

Too bad that "our communication infrastructure" is now running at the speeds of .002mbps, so if a foreign country can do a better job, have at it. I am not staying with something "American" just because it is American, if they want me to stay American, make a better product (You know, like capitalism is designed to do!!!)

Yeah that is not the point. It is a security issue.

If a foreign corporation is going to eat up Sprint.... I'd rather it be the Japanese than the Chinese.

I have little trust in Chinese multinational corporations, as evidenced by the recent news of Huawei and ZTE on the verge of being black-listed by the US and Canadian governments (due to their ties to the Communist Party, People's Liberation Army, and their involvement in espionage against the USA).

Agreed. Surprised it's not china.

maybe not. it isn't 2 words. the word "Bank" isn't actually there it's SoftBank.

Arguing for the sake of arguing, eh? It's obvious why people might think SoftBank is a bank, and no, I don't think of a bank of software when I see a bank.

Isn't it obvious it was a troll?

/me Thinks you're reading too much into it. it's fairly obvious, and you know it why people might think "SoftBank" is an actual bank.

Isn't it obvious it was a troll?

You know... he lives under a bridge and tries to catch the goats crossing from one side of the river BANK to the other. :p

I must be the only one who actually likes SoftBank that has commented on this thread.

As someone who has had J-Phone, Vodafone AND SoftBank, believe me when I say that things have improved over the years. Since the iPhone debuted on SoftBank's network, SoftBank has always done right by me - unlimited data, calling and reliable reception both in the big cities and the countryside.
Compare that to Docomo, which claims unlimited data but throttles to 128k after 7 gigs.
They have always had excellent plans - anyone remember what the big 3's plans looked like before SoftBank's White Plan came out?

Sprint subscribers have only good things to look forward to. SoftBank knows what they're doing.

Because they are actually a bank.

Yeah, I said "restrictions" ... not "forebidden"... I thought the "[to prevent companies other than financial institutions from using the term "bank"]" was obvious enough to go without saying.

In an ideal world that would be true. But these days it seems like capitalism is designed so that huge companies can make huge profits with as little effort as possible. The big telecoms offer similar services at similar prices, as do the cable companies, utilities, gas stations, etc.... There's a happy illusion of choice.

My happy illusion currently is AT&T. ;)

they will buy other small companies or just destroying them

Reliable reception my a**
Their coverage is inferior when compared to AU and DoCoMo.
However, I do agree that SoftBank is a respectable company with a decent track record in service and if any non-US telecom company has a shot at making Sprint a competitor, SoftBank would be it.
