Bill Lawrence has said that from Jason’s POV the *only* way they’d extend it is if production happened down the road from his house. In other words, it was written to be 3 seasons and Jason doesn’t want to have to travel anymore to shoot it (which is his right).
Apparently Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, also recently hinted that he doesn't like to get involved in projects with no planned end point. So yeah, it's pretty safe to say they've planned it as 3 seasons from the start. This is good in that it won't go on too long, losing quality in later seasons like so many other shows.

The good news is that it holds up remarkably well on rewatching, so those of us who want more will have to be satisfied with that.

Liked it at lot but similar to other Apple shows it leaves viewers wonder if there will be more episodes or if there is something missing. Have you watched Teheran? Another great show but it ends with viewers wondering what is next. Seriously, they need to either continue or end with a decent end.
I think you possibly might fundamentally misunderstand the concept of tv season finales and cliffhanger endings.

He’s credited as a writer as well as producer too if I’m not mistaken.

I say this with no equivocation. Ted Lasso is the best show on Television in 2020. I've introduced a friend & my parents, and ended up watching it with them both times. So now I've watched the entire series 3 times, and every time I love it more. It really is that good.
Have you watched The Unicorn. It has really good writing and is pretty good too.

I'm struggling to think of a better series I've ever watched. The GOAT?

I say this with no equivocation. Ted Lasso was a pretty good show and was fun to watch, I’ll give it that.

But make no mistake, it’s no ‘masterpiece’, and I wouldn’t even call it the best show from Apple TV’s list. I enjoyed the Morning Show and defending Jacob much more than Ted Lasso.

It’s personal opinion, but I think this forum overhyped Ted Lasso. The hype on the forum was the reason I watched it, and while I thought it was good, there were better shows.

One show I’m looking forward to, that’s right up my alley, is Foundation.

Coach Lassos dramatic extolling of practice by quoting verbatim Allen Iversons classic rant but with the complete opposite point conveyed by atone shift was masterful.

As a Brit who as never seen this show - why he is drinking tea from a Union Jack cup while the show is about English Football ?
Good catch! - It may be because in one of the episodes; Lasso questions how many countries are actually in the UK..? Just like he doesn't understand a Scooby about football. The show is very clever in setting off the observations from different characters and how different they can be - well worth a watch!

I guess I'm one of those suckers who "reads a book by its cover" and never watched this show because the title card led me to believe it had something to do with british sports.

In a time where there's so much advertising, you'd think I would have seen something about the show that gave me an ounce of what this show contains, but Apple TV doesn't seem to roll that way.

Even Central Park being a musical was a complete surprise to me and my 4 friends. I loved it, they hated it.

One of my favorite shows of all time. Sudeikis absolutely nailed it. If this show doesn't sweep the comedy emmys in 2021, I'll be furious.

Tehran has multiple seasons in the works. It is extremely common for drama shows (and even some comedies) to end with cliffhangers to whet appetite for future seasons. When you do the rewatch 5 years from now you will appreciate the cliffhangers. I mean, the greatest show of all time (in my humble opinion), Breaking Bad, is known for its incredible cliffhangers. That's what keeps people coming back.

I don’t think I could choose a “best” among Ted Lasso, The Wire, and Better Call Saul. They’re all so good and so different as to defy comparison.
I agree with your list, but would put Breaking Bad above Saul.

That should be the Emmy submission clip for Sudeikis, IMO. Or the darts scene, but that would be better for a dramatic scene rather than a comedy one.

Hey, treat yourself to some Ted Lasso goodness. Pronto. Best comedy of 2020 and will make your day better. Guaranteed.

Ted Lasso grows and grows and grows. It’s incredible. And the times when the characters do crack it all feels so real.
To anybody that watched Scrubs (also Bill Lawrence involved there) can relate, it’s funny, very, except when it’s not and it really hits.
Love this show.

Wow. Aren’t we all wonderfully different when it comes to taste in TV shows. I can’t stand this show. Jason Sudekis is fine, no problems there. It’s the incredibly bad acting from everyone else. Anyway, happy to hear others enjoy it. You weirdos.

I’ve been living in America for almost 14 years. I am yet to meet an American who knows England has its own flag, what it’s called, or that British and English are two different things.
You don't have to go that far.
In Continental Europe English or British is understood to be more or less the same with English being the typical description of someone from the British Islands.
There is some knowledge about some Scottish fellows that are different but they would still be called English in general.

Firstly, it’s a somewhat lazy visual nod to the fact it’s set in London (for those in the US who typically still need the suffix “England“ afterwards to understand the geography). There’s probably also a nod to Alex Morgan’s ‘tea sippin’ burn at the last women’s World Cup (the US knocked out England). And finally there’s a (fairly lame) running “gag” in the show about Ted hating tea (as well as sparkling water for some unknown unfunny reason).

All the above slight criticism aside, it’s really VEEERRRY good (to paraphrase Roy Kent) and definitely worth watching.

Interesting and varied responses, thanks - AIRA's response actually mirrors the different observations from you guys.

I suppose it's similar to having a hard to pronounce family name, do you correct everybody or just accept what they call you.

I think you're over-analysing this. It's set in Britain; that's the British* flag.

*OK, technically the flag of the United Kingdom, but you get my point.
