I have the free Open Office app on my iMac that requires java to run certain plugins. I don't see java anywhere on the Mac so I would like to know which java I should install. Either that or I would like to know which office software is good for general work on the Mac and what I can do for stationary that is business oriented for Apple Mail. I don't want the flowery garbage as stationary is for my work. THX

Install the newest java runtime. Obviously for security reasons you shouldn't use anything older unless you have to. Java doesn't come by default anymore with OSX I think. Just install it from oracle if you have no java preference pane in the sys prefs. There should be one if you have java installed.
