I love this case for the iPad 3. Also comes in a version for the iPad 2. Magnetics works in cover as smart cover, turning iPad off.

Works great as is, or with Apple BT Keyboard. The rotatable cover is the best for using in Horizontal or Vertical mode. Comes in other designs that may appeal more to women too.

I debated about this 'Axis' case for a while. It works very, very well for holding the iPad 3 in both horizontal and vertical position. It has 3 positions, as slots in back of front cover. It looks great and it is reasonably thin. My biggest concern was about folding the front cover backwards behind the iPad, like a folded book. See photo below. It does work, but with a bit extra width because of the folded design. In this folded book mode, the iPad is a bit wobbly because of the pivot on the back. But, under normal use, your hands will steady the iPad to an acceptable amount.

I do find that the most comfortable use is as intended, using the front as a platform to hold the iPad in 3 positions (Horizontal or vertical), on my lap, whether on the couch, in bed, and of course on a table. All those positions are a lot easier than with the Apple smart cover or holding the naked iPad in your hand

I would recommend this case to anyone looking for a good unique case, whether in the Tweed or other case colors. Very good looking case. Not leather, but, feels like it. Actually made from non-animal materials... The front is a woven tweed material.

    more photos

More photos showing the keyboard, and the 2 other positions of angle: the lowest and highest. In the OP was the middle position. All three can be used Horizontal or Vertical.

2 photos showing the edge thickness. All ports are exposed, but the rest is protected.
