Hello,

I have iPhone 3GS old bootrom (checked with iDetector) with 3.0.1 version (yes it's old). The phone has JailBreak already from ultrasn0w and now I want to upgrade to iOS 4.0 ( I read that 4.0.1 is not possible if you don't have SHSH, correct me if i'm wrong)
I searched here and other places and I just want to check that I'm doing everything right.
I just need to install sn0wbreeze-V1.7 ( I'm a WIN user) and download iOS 4.0 (8A293) and that's it?
( I don't care for Unlock, I'm with AT&T carrier)
Thank you.

Yes I still have JB for my 3.0.1, where can I get this custom 4.0 firmware? I just need to go to my iTunes and press on the restore button with shift, chose this firmware and that's it?

Yes, but before you hold shift and click restore you need to put your phone to restore mode. Follow this:
1.Turn off the iPhone
2.Hold down the Home button and then plug your iphone to your computer with iTunes already open.
3.iTunes will prompt you to perform a software restore and that it detect an iphone in restore mode.

You can download custom IPSW's for iphone 3GS and 4.0 online.

I'm getting error 1600, tried from 2 different computers + tried install iTunes again and nothing, any suggestions?

I already got it, there are 2 different modes that you can put your iPhone, the first one is DFU (what I did) and second is restore only (when you see iTunes logo and a cable on your screen), so my screen was black because I put my device in DFU mode all the time and this was wrong.
Everything is fine now and it's working, thank you everybody for your help.
