Today I came home and brought my late 2006 Core Duo MacBook out of sleep. I connected the magsafe, which i had noticed had started to fray a couple of weeks ago. When I plugged it in, it sparked and popped and burnt out a bit.
Called apple. They asked me questions such as 'Did the damage to the power adapter result in a damaged power cord', and my personal favourite 'Was the amount of smoke so great that you had to crawl from the room', and then said that i could get it replaced even though i am almost three years out of warranty. AND they shipped it overnight for me.
Gotta love Apple service 😀
