Ok, still not any signs of jelly-scroll whatsoever on mine. I have tested to see if I could produce it of course, but it scrolls perfectly fine. I'm happy with that 😁

Be happy you aren't sensitive to it!

(it's on all of them -- it's just a function of how it's designed and the technology in use -- and whether one is sensitive to it or not)

Nah, i don't believe a crap of that. Just we Europeans that got the best iPads. All iPad's are not manufactured in same place.
I've had this mini in over 2 years, and I surely would've noticed if I had jellyscroll, and no 😤
So pleased with it that I'll keep this 6 and won't buy the 7 - it serves all my needs of an iPad at this time, and probably will 1-2 more years.

If anybody remembers anything I have posted on this forum over the last 3 years, it often has concerned my rants about the "bad" display on the iPad Mini 6. I ordered it at launch in September 2021 and I was going to trade in my Mini 5 to cover part of the cost. After 3 days with the new device, I realized that the display of the Mini 6 was not very good. I never saw any "jelly scroll", but the text was not sharp on the Mini 6 and the general contrast and brightness was just not satisfactory. It just "bothered" md every time I looked at it. It was bad enough to give me headaches every time I spent more than a minute or two viewing it. No adjustment I tried in the settings on the device helped. I finally decided to undo the deal and sent back the new Mini 6 and kept my old Mini 5. A year later, I bought an M1 iPad Air, and kept using the Mini 5 as a secondary device, which I still use to this day. I have never had any trouble with the display on the iPad Air, BTW. And going forward from 2021, every time I looked at a Mini 6 in a store, my eyes had the same problem, so it was not the individual unit I had purchased.

I stopped at an Apple Store this morning and spent about 10-15 minutes playing with a Mini 7 that was on display. At least where I am concerned, whatever was "wrong" the display of the Mini 6 has been fixed, at least mostly fixed. The display looked sharp, the contrast was satisfactory, and I got no headaches. It just seemed like a "normal" Apple LCD retina display. I am so glad. I will probably keep the Mini 5 for another year as I can't justify replacing a secondary iPad at this time. But I could see myself buying a Mini 7 in the future. Plus I already have a case that fits the Mini 7, since I still have the 3rd party Mini 6 case I had bought in 2021. The bottom line is that I think this is a good upgrade beyond the obvious processor and RAM improvements, as Apple has apparently fixed a display problem that they never acknowledged ever existed.

Good news, glad to hear whatever was bothering you about the display has been fixed.

If you look at a teardown of iPad mini 6, you’ll see the display controller is attached to the long edge of the display assembly. There is space carved out in the chassis to accommodate it. To rotate the controller would require completely laying out the battery and logic board design again. There was no chance that was going to happen.

Apple likely did some minor software and hardware changes to minimize it, but I think eliminating it was always out of the question.

As expected, there is no change to the orientation of the controller. In fact, the components are exactly the same.

Can’t be sure they switch the orientation of the display controller just because they switch to OLED.
I've never known any OLED display have any jelly scrolling. Will see though apple have done something to address it slightly so they know it's there so i imagine it will disappear but who knows. They now don't see it as a big issue clearly.

All OLEDs have jelly scrolling, it’s not a LCD thing but an effect of how the display controller is updating the pixels. The OLED iPad Pros have it in portrait mode even with the 120 Hz.

It’s interesting you mention this. I too noticed the “bad quality” display of my iPad mini 6 when comparing it with my iPad Pro and iPhone 13.

I also went to the Apple Store and compared both, and I honestly think the mini 7 and 6 still have the same display. The text didn’t seem as sharp on the iPad mini 7 too, and the colours also didn’t “pop”.

I’m European and checked several mini 6 units when they came out, and they were all equally jellyous and less sharp than the mini 5.
I don't think there was much difference when I looked at them in the store because of the previous macrumors discussion. I did look at several back then also. But its was also ignorable to me in normal use after I got a mini 6, although I could force myself to see it previously. Now with the mini 7 it's definitely better, text seems to line up horizontally even if you see a slight motion on the left. :)

Ok, I refrace it - the prioriticed Europeans don't have jelly 😉
All the Mini 6 I have seen in the UK have Jelly. 🤷‍♂️
I guess you don't see it, and that's good for you. There is no screen lottery with the Mini 6—they are all made the same way - so all exhibit jelly scroll.

Final thought: I have newfound appreciation for my Mini 5. It is a portrait-oriented device with no jelly scrolling, a better aspect ratio than the newest Minis, and an equal (and maybe better) screen quality than the newest Minis. I just wish I could speed it up again so it doesn't feel 5 years old.
I agree wholeheartedly with this.

However, on your comments on jelly scrolling on other iPads, I realise it may be there but to my eyes it's not intrusive on any iPad except the Mini - which I think is down to the combo of screen size, orientation and overall lack of quality of the current Mini's screen compared to other contemporary iPads.

I've just been to my local Apple store to see the iPad Mini 7 for myself. Jelly scroll is still present although slightly reduced. It's not so wavy but still tilts. Surprisingly it's just as bad on the OLED iPad Pro 11".

It's enough to make me pass again. I'm looking at the Lenovo Legion Tab 2024 as I'm over larger tablets.

Let me know how that goes, will you?

Very interested in the LLT2024 myself

Going to finally see the Mini 7 today in person, but I'm not expecting great things based upon reports like yours

You are just angry on me because the fact that I don’t have any problem weakens your argument!
If what you state was 100% true Apple would replace all iPad mini’s 6.
If you wan’t to win legal battles, you have to stay with the truth, and have solid arguments. Attacking other people’s experience or arguments doesn’t make yours stronger, only weaker!

my mini 7 arrived today and it does seem improved not that it's a big deal for me anyway but it is still there. certainly not making it any less enjoyable. it fits it's purpose for what i need it for.

I just replaced my 6 with a 7 today, and as far as I can tell the display is identical. Still see the jelly. *Maybe* a bit less, but that can be entirely in my head.

Woah there, I'm not angry with anyone.

The iPad Mini 6 is specifically manufactured in Foxconn and Pegatron facilities located in Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, and Chengdu in China. They are built to Apple's strict design specifications.

I bought an iPad Mini 6 at launch, but it had noticeable jelly scroll. I returned it to my local Apple Store, and while there, I tested all the display models of the iPad Mini 6 – every one of them exhibited the same jelly scroll effect. Several months later, I visited a different Apple Store and found that all the iPad Mini 6 models on display still had jelly scroll. Today, I visited my local Apple Store again, and all the iPad Mini 7 models on display also had jelly scroll, though to a slightly lesser degree than the Mini 6.

This is in the UK, so all European stock.

I'll just leave this video here. Just because you believe something doesn’t change the reality.
