EDIT: to summarise it shows a cross section that showcases the quite impressive bond between aluminium and titanium apple made. It shows the thickness of said titanium. The youtuber seemed quite impressed as well.

However in the previous video he mentioned he had ways of proving if it was grade 5 titanium, but I guess that never happened.
I also wished he had use the torch more to change the colour of the titanium, but that’s just purely personal curiosity.

What is your point with posting the video? It is meaningless.
Robert I see you in every thread and you are always so defensive and jump immediately to the jugular of any sort of topic you don’t like. What’s your issue? And also, why do you think I have an ulterior motive? This video is the opposite of negative in the topic it discusses: the titanium.

I personally think is very interesting to know more about the titanium on the phone. Etc. Other people find it interesting. If you don’t you can ignore the thread and move along.

I asked because you made no comment as to what you thought about the video and what point if any you were making by posting.i didn’t know what the discussion focus was supposed to be about from your POV. Posting the video without saying a word is rather meaningless, in my opinion.

Hey everyone, we are talking about a cell phone and not world politics. Say what you want and have some fun. No Biggie…

While I don't quite agree with the tone of Apple Robert, I must say Youtube videos are generally a very tedious way for acquiring information, due to their low content density. That video here is over 13 minutes long, yet the question in its title could be answered by two or three numbers. It would have been nice to summarize the results, that would simplify discussions in this thread..

Love seeing the internal details like this. Great teardown

Back glass definitely looks like separate piece that should be easy to replace.

Surprised how thick the titanium on the edge was, and how it looks like the aluminum just transitions to it. Impressive construction.

glad there's actually a decent amount of titanium. I had feared it would be super thin, almost plated and that it would be mostly aluminum.

so according to the new video it is Titanium Grade 5 indeed, no asterisks. Which is very impressive since Ti G5 is very very expensive, thus making the iPhone 15PM almost a piece of jewellery as well.

Eh, expensive relative to aluminium or steel, but not really that much in absolute numbers, especially given the amount (1 mm thickness). Here, grade 5 titanium sheets of 50x10 cm at 1 mm thickness for €70, probably enough for 10 Pro Max.

I don’t really understand your dismissive tone? Is exponentially more expensive than materials used before. I think a premium phone having premium materials is fantastic.

Sorry, I did not intend to come over so negatively. I really like titanium and to me personally it is one of the strongest arguments for getting an iPhone 15 Pro. I have a whole bunch of titanium items and always choose ti if it is an option, it is a great and immensely practical tool material - light, strong, non-magnetic, hypoallergenic and effectively rust proof compared to even the most stainless of steels. I just have trouble seeing it as a "jewelry" material, both because it is way cheaper than traditional jewelry metals (people buy whole bicycles made of titanium, for performance reasons), and it is arguably objectively better than weak and heavy platinum, gold and silver which people only desire because of rarity.

I didn’t see it at first on their website but it does say the internal frame is 100% recycled aluminum
