The antenna bands are definitely the most scratch prone part. Under normal lighting, my phone is flawless. However, when I shine a flashlight on the phone, I can see 50 vertical scratch lines on the antenna bands. It's only visible under a direct bright flashlight, so it doesn't bother me.

However, I see it as the weakest part scratch-wise on the JB.

Also found what looks like a water mark on my phone near the camera. Again, only visible under bright direct lighting at an angle. So not going to complain about it.

Best advice: don't go looking for scratches or flaws.

Yes, the antenna line is very susceptible to scratches, more so than the JB housing. I've had my JB 7 since launch day, and the antenna line is full of mircro-scratches. The housing also got a few scratches, but no where near as many as the antenna.

That makes no sense. When Apple receives scratched up/shattered/defective units, they remanufacture them to become white box replacements (with a brand new shell and battery).

No. That's not what I meant. I was referring to purchasing used iPhones off eBay from unknown buyers. I understand Apple's refurbish process. I was referring to eBay as a whole and how eBay has become a poor experience in purchasing used iPhones/fraud.

I have a matte black plus and my bottom antenna lines especially are all scratched up. Have been since a week after I got the phone. Got a couple nicks in the matte black finish as well. The matte black finish doesn't seem all that durable honestly. The good thing about it is it made me less paranoid about getting scratches lol
Mine are also showing an excessive amount of scratches (matte black) despite being in a case since unboxing.

I also noticed that there were a handful of tiny scratches when I first pulled the phone out of its box.

Sigh

Mine was flawless out of the box. Where I work I come into contact with sand a lot. I know why I scratched and got the knicks. But having the 6 plus and 6s plus at the same job, and not having this issue with them makes me believe the finish of these phones, at least matte black, is fairly weak. The only thing I can't really believe is how easy the screen picks up scratches compared to the other two.

The only really noticeable scratches I have are on the antenna bands. Top and bottom. I have taken in and out of a couple of cases regularly so that may account for the top. However, the bottom was from usage while using a tech 21 evo mesh. Great case, but the cutouts on the bottom ride a little high into the back of the phone and can see wear going in and out of pockets. Otherwise, microabrasions on the back of the phone are hard to see if at all.
