Jetta, Mazda 3, or Civic?

They're all good cars. Honda's legendary for reliability and cost of ownership, but I'm not a Civic fan. I picked Jetta because I love my GTI. I test drove a Mazda 3 and I didn't feel the zoomzoom.

I'd definitely take a good look at the all-new Ford Fiesta.

Have you considered a diesel Jetta? They have a great fuel economy and last a lot longer than gas engines.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I drove a Civic for a day as a rental, hated it. My dad has a 2009 Mazda 3, I don't care for it too much (it's definitely lacking in the zoom zoom) and I picked Jetta because I love my GTI as well, so I figure the Jetta can't be bad.

I drove one for my driving lessons, and I hated it too. It was an hybrid, so may have just worsened the matter.

The thing that annoyed me the most was the steering wheel. It's so small...

I recommend the Ford F150.

I really like the Mazda 3, if you can get over that terrible front end styling. The view from the driver's seat is pretty good, though. I'm still wary of anything from VW, after having read many horror stories from owners online. The Civic is very dependable and very boring.

I would go for either the Honda or Mazda.

I still think you should look at the Fiesta. I really thinks it looks like a really cool car. Doesn't really hurt to just check out all your options.

In resale value, honda is going to win with mazda not doing too bad. The VW won't fare as well. The VW is also going to have higher maintenance costs. The mazda will likely be more fun to drive than the civic, however I agree that the styling is ugly. It looks like a smiling frog.

I went in for a Civic DX and drove off the lot with an Si. If you're going to go with the Civic, go for the Si. Worth the extra $ in my opinion, and definitely not boring to drive! If not, go with the Mazda 3. I would stay away from the Jetta as well for the same reasons that others have stated.
